Dance & Style Battle 2016 in Ried/Innkreis

The 10th Sport & Fun Exhibition taking place from 11 till 13 of March 2016 offered a lot of sporting highlights and gave the team of movetoohot this year again the opportunity for the optimal execution of the"Dance & Style Battle" with national and international young dancers and known regional crews.

The Dance & Style Battle organised by the team of movetoohot took place on Saturday, 12 March 2016. Dancers from Germany, Austria, Rumania and Czech Republic came to take part. Patrick Grigo aka Parrish moderated the event and was supported by DJ Illicitrap who provided phat beats on the turntables. The jury consisting of Bboy Goofy (Serbia), KateRock (Austria) and Amok aka Moooka (Serbia) used the brand-new Judging System "and8 Judge" and had to make some really close decisions.

In the 1vs1 Breaking Kidz Battle there were some very exciting battles. The TOP8 danced against eachother after a preselection with a total of 13 participating kidz. Lil Chris from Linz (Austria) and Bboy Ibot from Salzburg (Austria) as well as Alex from the Rize Rockaz from Linz and Oliver from Opatow Flavours from Prague (Czech Republic) made it into the semi-finale. Both semi-finales could only be decided in the tiebreak of the 3rd round and this way it were Oliver from Prague and Bboy Ibot from Salzburg from the SEAD Breakers who danced against eachother for the first place. In the end Bboy Ibot persuaded the jury despite his heavy leg injury which is the reason why he isn't able to do powermoves at the moment.

The 1vs1 Breaking Battle of the elder ones was well filled with 18 participants. The best 16 were allowed to dance against eachother in the K.O. system in order to determine the winner. Here again the favourites crystallized relatively quickly and it were Kidoum from The Only Kingz (Austria) and LackiStrike from Rize Rockaz (Austria) as well as Uncrownd from The Only Kingz and Beat the Young Hustler (Rumania) who met in the semi-finale. All 4 Bboys staged thrilling and exciting battles and in the end the both strongest of that day, Kidoum and Beat, entered the finale. Here Beat gave a sovereign performance and won against Kidoum from Linz.


In the Crew Battles this year it was all about the enhancement of the community and the group feeling. For this reason the preselection for the Crew vs Crew competition was executed totally in the style of the Battle of the Year (BOTY) using the BOTY Matrix. All participating crews had to present a show of 3-5 minutes or to combine some routines with freestyle solos in order to show that they act as a crew. The groups "The Only Kingz" and "Ceramic Crew" had understood this task very well! A total of 4 crews made it into the final round of the TOP4. The first semi-finale was between "M.O.T." from Salzburg (Austria) and "The Only Kingz" from Linz (Austria). The second semi-finale included the "Rize Rockaz" from Linz and the "Ceramic Crew" from Gmunden (Austria). Both battles were full of energy and provided pure dance atmosphere. The favourites in each battle "The Only Kingz" and "Rize Rockaz" could prevail with 3:0 and competed against eachother in the finale. Here "The Only Kingz" were with their group dynamics, creative routines and good individual performances the better team. The decision was close with 2:1 but nevertheless deserved.

In conclusion it is evident that there are a lot of changes within the regional scene and that you have to recognise the small things. Understanding and community have obtained more value and the support of the younger generation is big on the list. The Only Kingz did it. Intus, Harlekin and Showtime were present but they gave the younger ones of their team the opportunity to participate in the 1vs1 Battle without putting themselves forward. They stood with the neccessary support behind their team members and motivated them for more. You could feel the same with the other crews, Rize Rockaz, M.O.T. and Ceramic Crew. This is how it is supposed to be, cause in the end there is only one thing that counts - Peace, Unity, Love & Havin Fun!
