US Medea Sirkas

Équipe, Groupe de danse
de Los Angeles (United States)
fondé: 1991

Medea Sirkas™is the embodiment of a dance extravaganza whose roots are deeply embedded in the soul of hip hop. Legendary pioneers of strutting, boogaloo, and the Fillmore dance styles, this innovative ensemble transformed the underground dance movement through a cataclysmic dance explosion which perfected these popular styles and incorporated them into synchronized dance movement. The constantly growing San Francisco/Oakland based dance group whose members currently consist of Fayzo, Boogaloo Dana, Charlie Rock, Zulu Gremlin, Kato, Jeriel Bey and Slow Motion now tantalizes audiences from The Bay to Japan, each member contributing an individual flavor which combines to become what is uniquely Medea Sirkas™. Inspired by life, performance, and their absolute love of the dance form, this group has continued to keep audiences awe struck for over three decades.
In the tradition of the original group of which it was formerly known, Demons of the Mind™ who mesmerized talent show crowds from 1978-1985, Medea Sirkas™continues to transition the dance form to the next level, striving to create a unique and entertaining format whose futuristic appearance and cutting edge stage performance leaves the audience captive. The use of audio-visual effects as well as the integration of theatrical themes and staging, add the extra creative touches that make this group appeal to any audience. This versatility makes possible their ability to transition from venue to venue (whether it be in raves, nightclubs, hip-hop venues, or theatrical productions), age group to age group, and culture to culture, accommodating crowds on stages throughout the United States as well as internationally in France and Japan. This, combined with their smooth synchronized moves, contributes to the atmosphere that keeps their audience spellbound.

Medea Sirkas™, whose name was penned originally by former member Justice “Cleo“ Supreme, is reminiscent of the frenzy created by media events as well as the magic inherent in performances under the Big Top. This formula guarantees a showcase which is both unpredictable and entertaining. Medea Sirkas™ has performed with entertainers such as Justin Bieber in the Music Video Somebody to Love, Will I Am and the Black Eyed Peas, Common, Ludacris, R. Kelly, Wyclef Jean, Queen Latifah, Run DMC, KraftWerk, KRS1and Aaliyah, and performed in concert venues like Cyberfest, Super Fest, Summer Jam, and The B Boy Masters Pro Am worldwide. Among the many magazines in which they have appeared are articles in Dance and Rap Pages Magazines, as well as in Woofin, and Dance Delight (Japan) and Rap US and Radical Magazines (France). They have also appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer and have been featured on The KRON 4 Morning Show, The WB’s Live in Hollywood; FOX TV’s hit TV show 30 Seconds to Fame. Performances also include appearance at the legendary Showtime at The Apollo, the Damon Wayans Show and The 2010 NBA Playoff Game.

Medea Sirkas™ has been honored at the Hip Hop Nation Celebration, organized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco for their longevity and contribution to Hip Hop. Their elaborate stage showcase has won top awards nationally for both their creativity and their longevity. They also received an award at the Annual ''Hip-Hop Dance Awards for their unique and innovative style. Keeping alive the tradition Medea Sirkas™ pays tribute to all of the San Francisco Bay Area dance groups, continuing in that tradition with the purpose of leaving a legacy that passes on the knowledge/history of strutting and the Fillmore dance style.
