Ramu Kawai was a mere five years old when she in 2006 discovered her enthusiasm for breaking. The Kanagawa-born B-Girl is a member of the Floorriorz, one of the best known breaking crews from Japan and practises under the guidance of Noritoshi Kikuchi, better known as b-boy Nori.
Her love for music, her expressive and energetic style paved the way for her to many national and international battles. In 2012 Ramu aged eleven won together with her teammates from the Floorriorz the Battle of the Year International in Germany. Until today this victory marks a significant moment in Ram’s life. Major influence in dance the 16-year-old experienced from Taisuke and Toshiki, two celebrated greats of the Japanese breaking scene.
In 2017 b-girl Ram succeeded in the online-video-qualification for the Youth Olympic Games and persuaded also in the Continental Qualifier in Taipei with absolute female power. In Kawasaki Ram’s success for her achievement in breaking shouldn’t also come to an end. There she reached the first place in the overall ranking and qualified as the favourite for the title for the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games.
In her participation in this incomparable competition Ram sees a significant step for her future. Her discipline, her speed and the will to deliver always a performance of 100 percent are the driving force and the fertile soil for the upward development of the young dancer.
