Toyin Sogunro aka Toyin

Artistic Director of Urban Artistry and crew member of Assassins D.C., Toyin Sogunro is a dancer, educator, and ambassador of culture. She has been passionate about dance from the early age of three. She later found hip hop and house dance, after joining the Washington DC based cultural arts organization Urban Artistry. Under the guidance and mentorship of Junious “House” Brickhouse, she has had the opportunity to teach dance not only across the United States, but also in Europe and the Caribbean. She is perhaps most well-known for earning the distinction, along with fellow director Latasha Barnes, of being the first U.S. and the first female team to win the House Dance category in the 2011 Juste Debout Competition in France.
