Battle of the South 2021 is going down this year 12-14 November at Samsen kulturhus! Don’t miss out on a weekend packed with battles, showcase competition, jamming and workshops!

Battle of the South program:

Friday 12. November: (NEW TIMES)
18.30 – Doors open
19.00-20.30 – Showcase competition

Saturday 13. November:
15.00 – Doors open
15.00-16.00 – Jamming
16.00-19.00 – Battles: 2 vs 2 breaking & All styles crew battle

Sunday 14. November:
13.00 – Doors open
13.00-14.00 – Jamming
14.00-17.00 – Norwegian Breaking League & Knock Out Hip Hop 1 vs 1

13.00-14.30 – Hip Hop with Clara

Sunday:
10.00-11.30 – Hip Hop with Kashmir
11.45-13.15 – Breaking with Spin
12.30-14.00 – House with Marcio (NEW DAY AND TIME)

Tickets

Day pass: 99 NOK
Weekend pass: 225 NOK
Workshops: 225 NOK per workshop
Contestants fee: 50 NOK per person/per battle entered

Friday 12 November: Showcase competition

Rules:
Min 2 dancers – Max 9 dancers
Max 3 minute show
Must contain choreography
Open for all styles, however judges have street dance background
Max two crews from the same studio/dance school can be picked in top 10.
Props must be cleared with elisabeth@samsen.com

Crews will be judged on:
Team performance. Crews should consider: Formation, synchronicity, presentation.
Show concept. Crews should consider: Mood/setting, music, visual image.
Competence. Crews should consider: Quality of movement, musicality, skill level, complexity, execution, authenticity, understanding of style.
Stage presence. Crews should consider: Charisma, character, radiance.
Choreography. Crews should consider: Use of space, creativity, narrative, flow.
Prize money: 10 000 NOK
Floor testing (sound and lights): From 16.45
Deadline for sending music file: 5 Nov, send to elisabeth@samsen.com (bring a backup on USB)
Dance space: 6m x 4m
Contestant fee: 50 NOK per person
