Around '94/95, dancer Blas Pereyra came up with the acronym of K.O.R.O. (Knights of Rhythm Odyssey) Him, Sergio Doniz, Mario, Shadow, and Big Rick aka Indian Rick were the founding members of what was to be one of the most influential hip hop dance groups to come out of Texas. Inspired by dancers like Phatheadz, Nubian Nomadz, Moptop crew, KORO was primarily a House/Freestyle dance crew. After a couple years of representing in the dance scene in Houston, KORO developed good relationships with other local hip hop crews, WHYNOS and KAOS breakers. Around '96-'97, KORO continued to expand, now incorporating breaking as a style and merging with other crews such as WHYNOS and Visual Rhythm. With some members coming and going, it remained one of the most respected crews in Texas.
Years went by and another crew that was introduced to KORO from the help of the old Visual Rhythm members was HAVIK BBOYS. At almost every jam that went down in Texas, Havik and KORO would end up in the finals battling for1st place. Another opportunity for Havik and KORO to battle each other was at Out For Fame 2000 National Championship qualifiers in Houston. KORO ended up winning the contest, but when it came time to fly to the semi-finals in Chicago, a KORO member could not go because of school. A vote was cast and Moy from Havik ended up going to Chicago to form a team composed of Rudy Rexx, Lil John, Marlon, Mario and Moy. That day, HAVIKORO was born, from the merging of two great Texas crews. Since then, each member has grown to be icons of the bboy scene, inspiring and creating a legacy both individually and as a crew.
From the beginning, Havikoro, has been influential to the b-boy scene world-wide, from putting Texas on the map by upsetting the national favorites at Freestyle Session 5 in 1999, becoming the first ever Out For Fame national champions, representing the USA at Battle of the Year International in 2001, as well as being originators and innovators in style. Havikoro has also done much for the community, including teaching local youth and supporting local events, as well as abroad as representatives of the U.S. embassy, teaching positive workshops for disenfranchised youth in India, Guatemala, Colombia, and is recognized as the first American hip hop group to perform in Vietnam.
Currently, HAVIKORO continues to represent the essence of hip hop in all aspects of the art, remaining active in the scene competitively and culturally. Recently the crew has represented in Chelles Battle Pro in France, Evolution, Freestyle Session, UK B-boy Champs, and more.
